Razer is well known for its huge portfolio of high quality gaming peripherals. This is now joined by the Orbweaver Chroma, a customizable, mechanical gaming keypad. But is this really the ultimate tool for us gamers or rather a nice-to-have one?
In order to be able to adapt the keypad optimally to his personal requirements, the Orbweaver Chroma has three options for perfectly matching the individual modules. On the one hand you can adjust the distance of the palm and palm rest to the keypad, as well as the thumb module, and on the other hand you still have the opportunity to change the angle of the palm rest. Adjusting the size is very easy and is done in each case via a small pressure switch or in the case of the angle setting via a small metal pin. Most of the adjustment mechanisms are made of metal, thus guaranteeing a long service life of the components used.
All in all, the Orbweaver Chroma offers a total of 30 fully programmable keys, including 20 mechanical keys, equipped with the in-house Razer Green switch, and ten more, two switches and an 8-way thumbstick on the thumb module. On the right thumb module is also a small color indicator, which gives you a quick overview of which key profile is currently active. However, in order to be able to use the full extent of the keypad, the Synapse software must be downloaded and installed by Razer and a Razer user account must be created.
Razer delivers here with the Orbweaver Chroma definitely a great product and can gather in terms of workmanship, design and feel many pluses. The resizing of the individual modules, which can be adapted very easily to your own hand, has also been successful, and Razer has also done a great job with the in-house Razer Green desk. Due to the shortened triggering path, the corresponding commands are immediately transferred to the respective game. Anyone who also attaches great importance to the color adjustment and key assignment of its peripherals, gets synapse with powerful software that can reassign all keys or assign special functions, as well as many effects and 16.8 million colors can set its preferred combination
