The HI-TECH P670 has a height of almost three centimeters (~1.2 inches). The case manufacturer Clevo reinforced the slim metal bottom with a plastic coating to improve the cooling of the hardware. The cover and the palm rest are still made of aluminum, so the quality impression is good nonetheless. The same applies for the build quality and the stability. Otherwise, you have to search for the changes with a magnifying glass. You will hardly notice a weight difference of around 100 grams (~3.5 ounces) in practice, the same as the different shape of the fan exhaust at the back.
The quality of the input devices is decent in our opinion. There is some room for improvements (typing noise, feedback of the touchpad button, ...), but all in all both the keyboard as well as the mouse replacement do a pretty good job. There is hardly any criticism for the layout and typing experience of the chiclet keyboard, which has a white background illumination. The touchpad itself has a generous size and a smooth surface.
One of the biggest highlights is the display. The "standard" HD panel is not quite as bright as the 4K option (~274 vs. 333 cd/m²), but the AU Optronics B156HAN01.2 still produces an excellent picture thanks to the IPS technology.
It does not matter if you look at the color accuracy, RGB balance or saturation level: Conventional TN panels usually have a hard time to compete with IPS screens. The notebook, for instance, does not suffer from the blue cast, which is typical for notebook displays. The viewing angles are respectable as well, both with horizontal as well as vertical shifts. Even wider angles only result in small picture distortions.
We liked the low black value in particular. Compared to other panels, dark gaming and video scenes, respectively, appear very sharp and not washed-out. In combination with the high contrast (~1,200:1) you can see all contents perfectly. The only criticism concerns the brightness distribution. 85% are just average, especially since our review unit had issues with screen bleeding in the lower left corner.
Because the 4K panel consumes much more power (see Energy Management) and often had scaling issues (size of windows, etc.) we would recommend the Full HD screen. Another positive aspect of the AU Optronics B156HAN01.2 is its matte surface, which means it is more comfortable to use outdoors.

This notebook is powered by a processor from Intel's brand new Skylake lineup. The CPU installed here bears the name Core i7-6700HQ. It is not a frugal ULV processor, but rather a standard mobile processor with a TDP of 45 watts. The processor clocks at a base speed of 2.6 GHz, which can be boosted to 3.1 GHz (four cores), 3.3 GHz (two cores) and 3.5 GHz (one core) via Turbo. The processor performed our CPU tests at 3.1 to 3.5 GHz (single-thread) and 2.6 to 3.1 GHz (multi-thread). Thus, the CPU remains behind its potential in multi-thread applications. The processor clocked stably at 1.6 GHz in battery mode.
The Intel Core i7-6700HQ is a quad-core processor based on the Skylake architecture, that has been launched in September 2015. In addition to four CPU cores with Hyper-Threading clocked at 2.6 - 3.5 GHz (4 cores: max. 3.1 GHz, 2 cores: max. 3.3 GHz), the chip also integrates an HD Graphics 530 GPU and a dual-channel DDR4-2133/DDR3L-1600 memory controller. The CPU is manufactured using a 14 nm process with FinFET transistors.
Skylake replaces both Haswell and Broadwell and brings the same microarchitecture in every TDP class from 4.5 to 45 W. The extensive improvements of the Skylake design include increased out-of-order buffers, optimized prefetching and branch prediction as well as additional performance gains through Hyper-Threading.
According to the specified clock rates and the improved architecture, the Core i7-6700HQ performs roughly on par with the former, somewhat higher clocked Core i7-4900MQ or i7-4810MQ (Haswell). Under long-lasting full load, the Skylake chip will take the lead over Haswell-based predecessors, as the advanced 14 nm process leads to a higher energy efficiency and reduces throttling.
Even the most demanding applications and excessive multitasking are handled easily.
The integrated graphics unit called HD Graphics 530 represents the "GT2" version of the Skylake GPU (Intel Gen. 9). The 24 Execution Units, also called EUs, are clocked at 350 - 1050 MHz and offer a performance about 20 percent above the old HD Graphics 4600. Games of 2015 can thus be played smoothly in low or medium settings.
Specified at a TDP of 45 W (including CPU, GPU and memory controller), the CPU is best suited for bigger notebooks 15-inches in size and above. Optionally, the TDP can be lowered to 35 watts (cTDP down), reducing both heat dissipation and performance.
HI-TECH uses only full-copper heatpipe cooling. This type of cooling ensures optimal conditions and makes this unique notebook: While HI-TECH only uses this technology, other manufacturers often obstruct only inferior aluminum / copper hybrid or even pure aluminum coolers. These have a much worse cooling performance. Especially in gaming applications when devices are heavily used, there is a risk that the unit overheats. This leads to the fact that the individual components down contacts for reasons of protection, which minimizes the power of the device enormously. In the worst case, there could be breakdowns and could shorten the life lead. With the HI-TECH-copper heatpipe cooling in contrast the notebook is perfectly chilled even under extreme stress!
Need some examples? Maximum 34.9 ° C on the top and a maximum of 34.5 ° C on the bottom are given the high performance, a very low value. Make long gaming sessions are extremely comfortable, more than 24.5 ° C we could not measure on the palm rest. In idle mode, not even a temperature of 28.4 ° C is exceeded.
One might assume that the low surface temperatures expense of its components. But thought wrong: In our several-hour full load test (Furmark & Prime), the processor and the graphics card was far from critical regions, a maximum of 76 respectively 80 ° C gave the CPUID from Hardware Monitor. In idle mode, the components are shuttled one to nearly 40 ° C.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M is a 28 nm DirectX 11 graphics card for high-end notebooks. It was introduced in Fall of 2014 and is based on the Maxwell GM204 architecture. The clock rates specified by Nvidia are 1038 MHz (+ Boost) for the GPU and 1250 MHz (5000 MHz effective) for the up to 8 GB of GDDR5 memory.
Just like the mid-range GM107 chip (GeForce GTX 860M), the GM204 is also based on Nvidia's new Maxwell architecture, which replaces the previous Kepler generation. Among other changes, Nvidia have restructured the streaming multi processors (SMM) in order to increase workload and efficiency. Now each SMM contains only 128 shader units and 8 TMUs, which is noticeably less than an equivalent Kepler GPU. The GM204 features four GPCs, and each consists of four SMMs. But, in the GeForce GTX 980M, Nvidia have deactivated 4 of 16 SMMs. As a result, only 1536 shader ALUs and 96 TMUs are active. In addition, there are 64 ROPs in four clusters with 16 units each.
The memory interface has a bandwidth of 256-bits (4x 64 bit). Thanks to an improved compression algorithm, the connection to the GDDR5 memory should be significantly more efficient per MHz. Furthermore, the L1 (96 KB per SMM) and L2 caches (2 MB) have been significantly increased to lower the needed bandwidth.
Although the GM107 and the GM204 both belong to the Maxwell generation, the newer and larger GM204 has several additional features and changes. Aside from the improved polymorphic engine in the SSMs, it is also the first Nvidia chip to support the current DirectX 11.2 API.
Thanks to the increased efficiency, the GeForce GTX 980M performs significantly faster than the former top model, the GTX 880M. Consequently, it is the fastest mobile graphics card as of 2014. According to our benchmarks, it is about 40 - 50 percent faster depending on the scenario. Thus, the GTX 980M is powerful enough to run even the most demanding games with highest details and FullHD resolution. Additional visual features like anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering are also not a problem for this card as of 2014.
Most of the features are identical to the GeForce GTX 800M series. With the GTX 980M, there can be up to 4 active displays possible, but this will likely decrease due to Optimus. Displays can be connected with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels via DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 2.0 (no HDCP @ 4K). HD audio formats like Dolby True HD and DTS HD can be sent to a compatible receiver as bitstream. As with previous models, 3D Vision is not supported with Optimus.
The updated video processor VP6 supports the usual formats like H.264 and can also decode and encode H.265 with a resolution of up to 4K via the NVENC API. Several parallel streams, such as picture-in-picture in a Blu-Ray movie, are also possible.
Further features of the GTX 900M series, which are also partly supported by older cards, include Battery Boost (longer battery life during gaming), Shadowplay (recording of gaming videos up to 4K60p and 130 Mbit/s) and Gamestream (game streaming on Shield console). The power consumption of the GeForce GTX 980M including its MXM board and memory should be about the same as a GTX 880M with a specified TDP of 122 W. Given the significantly higher performance despite the identical manufacturing process (28 nm TSMC), this can be considered a massive increase in performance-per-watt. Nevertheless, the graphics card can only be used in very large and heavy gaming notebooks with powerful cooling systems.
Under low load, dynamic clock rates help the GTX 980M to save energy. While idle, the Optimus technology also allows for the complete deactivation of the GPU in favor of the integrated processor graphics card.

Yes, this new OS is chock-full of fresh features. To name just a few: a lean, fast Internet Explorer replacement called Edge; Microsoft's Siri-like voice-controlled virtual assistant, Cortana; and the ability to stream real-time games to your desktop from an Xbox One in another room. (And in case you're wondering: there is no "Windows 9" -- Microsoft skipped it, going straight from 8 to 10.)
But Windows 10 is also the end of a long, awkward road that began with the release of Windows 8 in 2012, when Microsoft tried to convince a world of keyboard and mouse wielders that touchscreens were the way to go -- or else. Ironically, in 2015, the PC hardware for that touchscreen future is now here -- everything from 2-in-1s such as the Lenovo Yoga line to convertible tablets with detachable keyboards, like Microsoft's own Surface. And Windows 10 smoothly lets users transition from "tablet" to "PC" mode on such devices like never before.
For the rest of the PC universe -- including those who still prefer good old-fashioned keyboard and mouse navigation -- Windows 10 is a welcome return to form. The Start menu, inexplicably yanked from 8, is back and working the way you expect it to. Those live tiles from the Windows 8 home screen still exist, but they've been attached to the Start menu, where they make a lot more sense. And the fiendishly hidden Charms bar has been morphed into the more straightforward (and easier to find) Action Center.
As always, there are some quibbles and gripes with the end product, but all-in-all -- after living with Windows 10 for months -- I can say it's a winner. It's flexible, adaptable and customizable. And it's been battle-tested by an army of beta testers for the better part of a year, making it one of the most robust operating system rollouts in recent memory.
A fresh Start
The Start menu is back; it's almost funny how relieving that is. That humble Start button has been a fixture on the lower left corner of the Windows desktop since the halcyon days of Windows 95, offering speedy access to apps and settings. Press it on Windows 10, and you'll see the latest step in a long conversation about the state of the PC industry.
The past sits on the left: a neat column with shortcuts to your most used apps. Press the "All Apps" button and you'll get an alphabetical list of all of the apps installed on your PC. There are folders in there too -- press them, and extra options will fly out, just like they always have.
The future -- or at least, the future as Microsoft envisions it -- sits on the right side of the Start menu. These are the colorful, animated live tiles that debuted in Windows 8, pulling double duty as app shortcuts and informative widgets. You can resize these live tiles, drag them about to arrange them into groups and pin as many apps as you'd like -- the entire Start menu can be shrunk or expanded to suit your liking. It's essentially a miniaturized version of the fullscreen Start menu we saw in Windows 8. Hate live tiles? Then unpin them to excise them from your computer, leaving you with the narrow column of frequently used apps we've known for so long.

Der Laptop übertrifft zum Teil sogar meine Erwartungen. Die Grafikkarte ist mehr als Perfekt und hat es bis jetzt immer geschafft meine Spiele auf der höchsten Einstellung flüssig laufen lassen zu können. Die CPU finde ich an sich sehr gut aber ich hätte gerne auch eine CPU mit einer höheren Taktfrequenz gekauft, da meine Spiele zum Teil sehr CPU lastig sind und die CPU trotz Turbo-Boost auf 3,5 ghz schon an seine Grenzen kommt. Leider habe ich keinen Laptop gesehen, der eine höhere Taktfrequenz als 3,5 ghz aufweist. Die Lüfter sind auch unter vollast nicht zu laut. Das Gesamntdesign gefällt mir auch sehr gut. Der Laptop hat 3 USB Anschlüsse (2x 3.0 und einmal 2.0). Einen vierten könnte ich aber auch noch gut gebrauchen. Im großen und ganzen immer noch sehr gut!
