With its striking front, the Midi-Tower Nimbus from Kolink stands out clearly. An RGB LED strip surrounds a large recess in the front, which significantly increases the airflow of the housing. The well-cooled hardware inside the case can be admired through the tempered glass side panel. Despite the solid side panel, the Kolink Nimbus only weighs 4.58 kilograms. The housing, which is designed for good airflow, can accommodate motherboards up to an ATX form factor, graphics cards can be up to 325 mm long - enough space for powerful gaming hardware.
Tempered glass side panel & a pre-installed fan
The solid chassis consists of one millimeter thick SECC steel and is equipped with a four millimeter thick tempered glass side part and a front made of plastic with an aluminum look. A huge recess, surrounded by a digitally addressable RGB LED strip, ensures an optimized airflow, the magnetic dust filter behind it keeps the inside of the housing clean.
The entire interior is coated in black and provided with a power supply cover to achieve a particularly clean look. There is space for a permanently installed hard drive cage with brackets for two 3.5 or 2.5 inch drives and the power supply. There are two additional slots for 2.5-inch drives on the back of the mainboard tray.

In order to ensure ventilation of the hardware installed in the housing, one of six possible 120 mm fans, also in black, is already included in the housing and installed on the back. On the front, a total of three 120 mm fans have space under the lid, and two further 120 mm fans can be installed. Two 140 mm fans can also be installed at the front.
A 240 mm radiator can be placed in the front and on the lid of the Castle housing. The mainboard tray and the cover of the power supply offer numerous openings for sophisticated cable management. Vents with fine dust filters are located in the lid and on the underside of the housing. They are magnetic and reinforced with a delicate honeycomb pattern.
Graphics cards can be up to 32.5 centimeters long and CPU coolers up to 16 centimeters high. In addition, the I / O panel placed on the front has a USB 3.0 Type-A port in addition to two USB 2.0 ports. There is also a switch for controlling the RGB lighting.

In applications, the Ryzen 5 5500 does comparatively well thanks to its six Zen 3 cores, the Ryzen 5 5600X is not too far ahead at almost 10 percent. The slightly higher clock rates of the X model primarily make the difference, but in some workloads such as 7-Zip, the double L3 cache in particular provides a lead of around 20 percent.
Also good for gaming
A slightly different picture emerges in games, here the L3 cache and the memory subsystem in general play a more important role than in most (consumer) applications, and the power limit is less relevant for this. The Ryzen 5 5600X again has a gap of about 10 percent to the Ryzen 5 5500, in titles like Anno 1800 it is over 15 percent and in Kingdom Come Deliverance it is 20 percent. In our previous tests, the Core i5-12400F was slower than the Ryzen 5 5600X, so it's little wonder that it's ahead of the Ryzen 5 5500. At just over 3 percent, the average distance is measurable but not noticeable. As is often the case, the ratio of the two chips depends heavily on the title being played, as they respond very differently to specific architectures or tweaks. The Core i5-12400F is a good 20 percent ahead of the Ryzen 5 5500 in Anno 1800 and in Kingdom Come Deliverance, but in CSGO the tide is turning and the AMD chip is also in Civilization 6 and Flight Simulator, at least in ours scenes used by the faster processor.
With the Ryzen 5 5500 there is finally a chip in the affordable segment that has six cores and the current Zen 3 technology.

While Tower coolers create a stream of air parallel to the motherboard, which starts a few inches above it, Top Down blows directly onto the motherboard, where the air then spreads in all directions. Since modern mainboards do not require active cooling and case fans are usually mounted higher, this is the only airflow that can cool onboard components in the CPU environment - and tower coolers eliminate this effect, according to popular opinion.
Critical components are clearly the CPU voltage converter on the motherboard. These circuits reduce the 12 volts coming from the power supply to the desired supply voltage of the processor and, like all electrical components, operate with limited efficiency. Accurate measurements are very expensive, but typically there is a 15 to 30 percent greater current flow to the transducers than they are to the CPU - the rest is converted to heat at the voltage transformers.
The AMD Wraith Prism is the ultimate cooling solution from AMD for processors with air cooling. The Wraith Prism offers more than any cooling solution before: an RGB LED control around the light ring, transparent fan blades and colour control with dynamic rainbow effects. The launch of Windows 10 and the associated developments are among the most important market launches in Microsoft's corporate history. Windows 10 not only brings a new version of the operating system onto the market, Windows 10 enables a new platform generation:
"We want to ensure that we offer developers the largest and most vibrant user base for their applications," said Satya Nadella in his opening keynote at BUILD 2015 in San Francisco. Windows 10 is now available in 190 countries and 111 languages.
The browser is really new in Windows 10: Edge replaces Internet Explorer. The new browser doesn't just have the cooler name. It is also much faster. In almost all browser benchmarks, Edge depends on IE 11 from Windows 8.1. It can almost double its pace in Mozilla's Kraken benchmark. It looks the same in Google's Octane 2.0 test. Its pace remains roughly the same in the Sunspider test and the Peacekeeper benchmark. Conclusion: When it comes to the browser speed, Windows 10 with Edge catches up a lot. In Kraken and Octane, Edge overtakes the competition, in the Sunspider he stays ahead. The old conditions are only preserved in the Peacekeeper test.
Microsoft already shortened the start times of Windows extremely with Windows 8. If the computer is switched off using "Shut down", it does not switch itself off, but only goes into hibernation - from which it can wake up more quickly. Even with a real Katlstart or restart, Windows 8.1 is slightly slower: However, over time, Windows remembers the files that it needs for the start: The start time is shortened with repeated starts. After ten starts, the two operating systems were almost on par with 20 seconds (Windows 10) and 22 seconds (Windows 8.1).
Windows is actually getting faster and faster the older it gets: For most components, manufacturers are releasing ever more up-to-date drivers that accelerate the hardware. Windows feels like it is getting slower and slower: This is mostly due to the fact that the autostart folder is filling up with more and more entries, more and more tools are running in the background and more and more programs that are no longer used are littering the memory. The performance tests show hardly any difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Sometimes one system is faster, sometimes the other. But all the results are so closely related - with less than three percent difference - that no difference is noticeable in practice. This also applies to tests such as Cinebench R15, which primarily check the processor performance. Even if we repeated the tests several times, nothing changed: When saving and buffering frequently used files, nothing seems to have changed between Windows 8.1 and 10. Conclusion: When it comes to hardware performance, Windows 10 is as fast as Windows 8.1 - or vice versa. So that Windows 10 stays fast, the same rules apply as always with Windows: Install the latest drivers and keep the system clean.
Windows 10 comes with the new Direct X12 3D interface. DX12 is designed to allow game programmers to use the capabilities of the GPU more efficiently. Computers with less powerful graphics cards can also benefit from this and display graphically complex games more smoothly. At the moment, the potential of DX12 can only be demonstrated using synthetic benchmarks such as the API overhead test. Conclusion: Windows 10 has the potential to accelerate games on weaker systems thanks to the DX12. But the concrete results will only show games that use DX12. The first should appear at the end of the year.
Windows 10 lays a good foundation: the hardware manufacturers have to use this to tease out a performance plus with improved drivers. Or in the case of Direct X12 game programmers who use the capabilities of the new interface in games.
