INTEL Core i7-12700F, clock frequency @ 4.9GHz, socket 1700, codename Alder Lake-S, cores 12 (8+4), threads 20 (16+4), base clock 2.10GHz (P-Core), 1.60GHz (E- Core), turbo clock 4.90GHz (Max Turbo), 4.80GHz (P-Core), 3.60GHz (E-Core) SMT yes (Intel Hyper-Threading), memory controller Dual Channel PC5-38400U (DDR5-4800), also supports PC4 -25600U (DDR4-3200), CPU Features GNA 3.0, Thread Director, DL Boost, Optane Memory Support, Speed Shift, Turbo Boost Max 3.0 (4.90GHz), Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-Threading, VT-x, VT- d, VT-x EPT, Intel 64, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, Idle States, EIST, Thermal Monitoring, VMD, ISM, AES-NI, Secure Key, OS Guard, XD Bit, Boot Guard, MBEC, CET, architecture Golden Cove + Gracemont (hybrid design), L2 cache 12MB (8x 1.25MB + 4x 512kB), L3 cache 25MB, chipset interface DMI 4.0, 16GT/s (PCIe 4.0 x8), PCIe- Lanes 16x PCIe 5.0, 4x PCIe 4.0, memory max. 128GB, memory bandwidth 76.8GB/s.
With Alder Lake on the desktop, several aspects come together: a hybrid performance design with fast and efficient cores, a new microarchitecture, for the first time production in 10 nm for an Intel desktop processor and a new platform with DDR5 and PCI Express 5.0
A Core i7-12700 has 8 Golden Cove cores with 16 threads and also offers four efficiency cores. Like the i9-12900K and Co., the six-core is also manufactured in Intel 7, which corresponds to 10 nm. However, Intel emphasizes that the new production cannot be compared with the old designation.
As a rule, a Core i7-12700 plays at the top and competes with a Core i9-11900K. Likewise, the performance is between that of an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and a Ryzen 9 5900X, which is very decent.

Safe mounting system
The diamond-cut copper base plate of the pump unit has large micro-channels to quickly and efficiently dissipate the processor's waste heat to the cooling circuit. 1200 rpm to 2550 rpm offer an extremely balanced range of performance to provide the necessary resources for your use in every situation. Decide for yourself whether you want maximum overclocking or subjectively silent silence in your silent project. An intelligent cooling circuit in the two-chamber design inside the pump housing also reduces the background noise of the pump unit and increases the cooling capacity and service life compared to conventional designs. The pump housing and pump cover are elaborately finished with piano lacquer after the injection molding process.
Gletscherwasser relies on a high-performance aluminum radiator. For even more security in your system, this radiator has a "leak-free" design. In the very unlikely event of a leak in the cooling system, the pressure in the cooling circuit is automatically regulated, which prevents possible coolant leakage. So your hardware is always SAFE.
With its excellent thermal conductivity, the Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut can also be used for overclocking. It was specially developed for use with large-area heat sinks, which are used, for example, in water cooling systems. Advantages: No hardening, silicone-free and not electrically conductive.
Wing Boost 3 ARGB
With 16.8 million colors, the Wing Boost 3 ARGB offers numerous options for uniquely staging the case. The addressable RGB LED lighting is integrated in the fan frame and casts a light glow on the impeller and shines stylishly to the outside.
Airflow optimized fan blades
With a new angle of attack for the fan blades, the rotor has been optimized for low speeds in order to achieve a significantly higher volume flow, total pressure and outlet speed at the same speed compared to other fans. Thanks to the Wing Boost 3 technology, air turbulence on the impeller is greatly reduced to ensure even quieter operation at full speed.
IC engine control
High-quality IC motor control minimizes electrical noise, especially in the low speed range, to a minimum.
Fluid Dynamic Bearing
By using the fluid dynamic bearing, we can realize low-vibration and whisper-quiet operation of the fan.
PWM speed control
The new Wing Boost 3 supports speed control using the PWM signal from the mainboard.
De vibration pads
Thanks to their excellent anti-vibration properties, the de-vibration pads reduce the often annoying noises that are transmitted to the housing by the vibrations of the fan to a minimum.

The ASUS Prime B660M-A D4 is a Micro-ATX motherboard with the Intel B660 chipset and the LGA 1700 socket. The motherboard is suitable for desktop processors of the 12th generation Intel Core CPUs, Alder Lake. It supports DDR4 memory with up to 5,333 MHz and supports features such as WLAN ax and Bluetooth 5.2.
The overall performance of the ASUS Prime B660M-A WIFI D4 is impressive across the board and gives no cause for criticism. Instead of flaunting lavish equipment, the ASUS Prime B660M-A WIFI D4 concentrates on the essentials: A reliable circuit board with equipment that is absolutely sufficient for the majority.
The square PCB not only features the LGA1700 socket for Intel's Alder Lake S processors and the four DDR4 UDIMM memory banks for up to 128 GB RAM, but also a 1x PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for expansion cards. A total of two M.2 M-Key interfaces with a PCIe 4.0 x4 connection were positioned in the gaps. In addition, there are four SATA 6GBit/s. ASUS specifies a maximum clock of 5,333 MHz for the RAM slots.
ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 V2, 10GB GDDR6X, connections 2x HDMI 2.1, 3x DisplayPort 1.4a, chip GA102-202-KD-A1 "Ampere", 68SM, 628mm², chip clock 1440MHz, boost: 1740MHz (OC mode), memory 10GB GDDR6X, 1188MHz, 19Gbps (19008MHz effective), 320bit, 760GB/s, Shader Units/TMUs/ROPs 8704/272/96, cooling 3x axial fan (95mm), special features real-time raytracing, raytracing cores (68), tensor cores (272), NVIDIA G-Sync, NVIDIA VR-Ready, AV1 Decode, HDCP 2.3, 0dB zero fan mode (up to 55°C), backplate, LED lighting (RGB), boost clock overclocked (+30MHz), PCIe 4.0 x16 interface, computing power 30.29 TFLOPS (FP32), 473 GFLOPS (FP64), DirectX 12 Ultimate (12_2), OpenGL 4.6, OpenCL 3.0, Vulkan 1.2, Shader Model 6.6.
A good custom design is characterized by the fact that it already works optimally from the factory. Fan speeds, power limit, offset to the clock rates - all of this has to be explored and harmonized with each other. Asus has undoubtedly succeeded with the TUF Gaming OC.
The buyer of such a card has the choice between two default settings via the performance and quiet mode, each of which works very well. In Quiet Mode, the card is clocked 15 to 30 MHz lower, but this is hardly noticeable in the benchmarks, which is why we have not carried out separate tests. The software can also be used to choose between a Silent, Gaming and OC mode, but actually it is sufficient to leave this at the default values and then find the desired setting via the BIOS switch.
In Quiet Mode, the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC is only slightly louder than the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G, which was the quietest model in our test so far. The temperatures always range between 60 and 70 °C - no matter which preset is selected. The GPU Boost 5.0 of the Ampere generation also has certain temperature dependencies, but it doesn't make a big difference in the temperature window of the air cooling. Anything below 70 °C is considered positive. Of course, the lower the temperature at the end, the better. But you should also keep an eye on the volume. The ASUS model is already very well positioned here.
The voltage measurement points on the back of the PCB are a nice gimmick, but certainly don't matter to 99.9% of users. As far as the lighting is concerned, ASUS is holding back a bit, but here too personal taste decides how much RGB lighting there should be or not.

Unique product ID with changeable side stickers for DIY enthusiasts and gamers.
The electrical performance of the Hydro G 850W PSU was very good. The unit exhibited tight voltage regulation, high efficiency (80 Plus Gold) and good AC ripple and noise suppression. The cooling fan is very quiet and the power supply operates in silent fan-less mode at low power levels. The Hydro G Series also features fully modular, flat ribbon-style cables. Our only minor complaint was the lack of a second ATX/EPS 4+4 pin cable/connector, which is pretty standard at this power level.

As we get requests concerning the proper sizes of power supplies very often, we want to give you some information here, so that you can get an idea of this topic:
SAMSUNG SSD PM9A1 1TB, M.2, design Solid State Module (SSM), form factor M.2 2280, interface M.2 / M-Key (PCIe 4.0 x4), read 7000MB / s, write 5100MB / s SLC-Cached IOPS 4K read / write 1000k / 850k, memory modules 3D-NAND TLC, Samsung, 136 layers (V-NAND v6), reliability prognosis 1.5 million hours (MTBF), Samsung Elpis (S4LV003) controller, 8 channels, 1GB cache (LPDDR4), SLC cache, NVMe 1.3c protocol, data protection functions 256bit AES, TCG Opal 2.0, power consumption 0.035W (idle), 0.005W (sleep mode), special features L1.2 low-power standby.
The Samsung OEM SSD PM9A1 is made entirely of semiconductor components and uses NAND flash memory, which has high reliability and advanced technology in a small form factor. Thanks to the support of the Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) 4.0 interface standard, performance is much faster than that of SATA SSDs. A comparison of the speed makes it clear that the PM9A1 version is definitely ahead. In contrast to the 6,000 MB / s, the two previous models only offered 3,500 MB / s. This is no wonder. After all, both OEMs were equipped with PCIe 3.0 and not the latest PCIe 4.0 standard.
The Samsung PM9A1 is an M.2 SSD with PCIe 4.0 and practically the OEM counterpart to the 980 Pro.
SEAGATE BarraCuda Compute 4TB, 3.5", 256MB, SATA 6Gb/s, form factor 3.5", 20mm, cache 256MB, power consumption 3.7W (operation), 2.5W (idle), noise level 24dB(A) (operation), 22dB(A) (idle), recording method Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR), Drive Managed SMR, sectors 4KB with emulation (512e).
After Hitachi and Western Digital, Seagate is now also offering a 4 terabyte model for desktop PCs. On the other hand, the manufacturer has the edge in terms of data density with 1000 GB per magnetic disk.
The rotational speed of the is only 5400 instead of 7200 revolutions per minute, as was previously the case with the Barracudas. This ensures lower power consumption, but at the expense of the transfer rates. However, Seagate compensates for this slowdown with the high data density and packs a whole terabyte onto a magnetic disk. According to the manufacturer, this corresponds to up to 340,000 data tracks on a width of around 25 millimeters. Converted, the track width is only 75 nanometers.
This requires extremely precise control of the read/write heads. To do this, Seagate uses AcuTrac technology, which constantly determines the flying height of the heads via two sensors and compensates for it with the finest temperature changes in the carrier material. In addition, Seagate uses Advanced Format technology to increase the sector size from 512 bytes to 4 kilobytes - this reduces the additional memory requirements for address and check bits, which are then available for user data.
The sequential transfer performance of the 4 TB drive from Seagate is impressive: the 3.5-inch hard drive achieves a maximum of almost 175 MB/s. In the particularly fast burst mode, in which the hard disk transfers data directly via the 64 MB buffer memory, the transfer rate even climbed to almost 250 MB/s.

Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64Bit, pre-installed with all necessary device drivers. Switch on and get started!
The launch of Windows 10 and the associated developments are among the most important market launches in Microsoft's corporate history. Windows 10 not only brings a new version of the operating system onto the market, Windows 10 enables a new platform generation:
"We want to ensure that we offer developers the largest and most vibrant user base for their applications," said Satya Nadella in his opening keynote at BUILD 2015 in San Francisco. Windows 10 is now available in 190 countries and 111 languages.
The browser is really new in Windows 10: Edge replaces Internet Explorer. The new browser doesn't just have the cooler name. It is also much faster. In almost all browser benchmarks, Edge depends on IE 11 from Windows 8.1. It can almost double its pace in Mozilla's Kraken benchmark. It looks the same in Google's Octane 2.0 test. Its pace remains roughly the same in the Sunspider test and the Peacekeeper benchmark. Conclusion: When it comes to the browser speed, Windows 10 with Edge catches up a lot. In Kraken and Octane, Edge overtakes the competition, in the Sunspider he stays ahead. The old conditions are only preserved in the Peacekeeper test.
Microsoft already shortened the start times of Windows extremely with Windows 8. If the computer is switched off using "Shut down", it does not switch itself off, but only goes into hibernation - from which it can wake up more quickly. Even with a real Katlstart or restart, Windows 8.1 is slightly slower: However, over time, Windows remembers the files that it needs for the start: The start time is shortened with repeated starts. After ten starts, the two operating systems were almost on par with 20 seconds (Windows 10) and 22 seconds (Windows 8.1).
Windows is actually getting faster and faster the older it gets: For most components, manufacturers are releasing ever more up-to-date drivers that accelerate the hardware. Windows feels like it is getting slower and slower: This is mostly due to the fact that the autostart folder is filling up with more and more entries, more and more tools are running in the background and more and more programs that are no longer used are littering the memory. The performance tests show hardly any difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Sometimes one system is faster, sometimes the other. But all the results are so closely related - with less than three percent difference - that no difference is noticeable in practice. This also applies to tests such as Cinebench R15, which primarily check the processor performance. Even if we repeated the tests several times, nothing changed: When saving and buffering frequently used files, nothing seems to have changed between Windows 8.1 and 10. Conclusion: When it comes to hardware performance, Windows 10 is as fast as Windows 8.1 - or vice versa. So that Windows 10 stays fast, the same rules apply as always with Windows: Install the latest drivers and keep the system clean.
Windows 10 comes with the new Direct X12 3D interface. DX12 is designed to allow game programmers to use the capabilities of the GPU more efficiently. Computers with less powerful graphics cards can also benefit from this and display graphically complex games more smoothly. At the moment, the potential of DX12 can only be demonstrated using synthetic benchmarks such as the API overhead test. Conclusion: Windows 10 has the potential to accelerate games on weaker systems thanks to the DX12. But the concrete results will only show games that use DX12. The first should appear at the end of the year.
Windows 10 lays a good foundation: the hardware manufacturers have to use this to tease out a performance plus with improved drivers. Or in the case of Direct X12 game programmers who use the capabilities of the new interface in games.
