Twenty months after the launch of the first AMD Ryzen 1000 eight-core processors in the mid-range and thus the number 1 platform for private customers, Intel is catching up: Eight cores for the LGA 1151 socket are now also available from the market leader.
The first two processors of this type hear the name Intel Core i9-9900K and Intel Core i7-9700K and ring in the beginning of the ninth generation of cores at Intel - which is based in the heart, however, still on the sixth generation. Also, Coffee Lake Refresh will continue to be manufactured in Intel's own factories in 14nm ++, the same level of 14nm manufacturing as its predecessor.
Essentially, the refresh serves only to be able to offer eight cores. Intel goes with Coffee Lake Refresh but not only initial vulnerabilities, but also a year-long criticism of the competitor AMD with his Ryzen CPUs had recently moved back into focus: The Heatspreader is soldered again to the processor die, which colloquially Thermal paste known as "toothpaste" is a thing of the past at Coffee Lake Refresh.
The Core i7-9700K is the most interesting choice of the new 9000s in terms of price / performance. It offers eight physical cores with a fairly high turbo (single-core 4.9 GHz and all-core turbo about 4.6 GHz). In current games, he is usually on the second place. However, the lack of hyperthreading makes it fall back into midfield in some applications. In applications pays a high core / thread count and here is the actually good Core i7-9700K beaten by the "old" top model Core i7-8700K (6 cores / threads 12).

The completely black design gives the radiator an excellent and discreet look. However, the actual fan, measuring 130 mm, has been replaced by a transparent plastic case for the actual rotor in order to show off the RGB lighting.
New is the 4-pin RGB connector. We decided to use the fan directly via the RGB header on the board, ASUS AURA e.g. or via the enclosed switch if the mainboard does not have an RGB header yet. Thus, everyone can enjoy chic lighting, even if the board does not have RGB headers. If the lighting is activated by a switch, some modes are available. You can choose between different modes like color flow, single color or pulses. Adjust the speed and brightness as well as select different ready-made colors.
Once again we show that one does not always have to reinvent a wheel to present a very good cooler. Excellent cooling performance, 100% RAM compatibility, and a fan with a high-quality FDB bearing that produces no noticeable noise.
The black paint is also excellent for the cooler and if you do not want the lighting, you can simply switch it off, but still enjoy the discreet design.
Even before AMD even gets the opportunity to leave its next trace with the Radeon RX-5700 series, NVIDIA anticipates the counterattack. The fact that the GeForce RTX 2060 Super and GeForce RTX 2070 Super are the first two cards in the refresh is mainly due to the competition from the Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 5700 XT.
For the GeForce RTX 2070 Super NVIDIA changes even the GPU type designation. Instead of the TU106-400, the TU104-410 is used, which has been used in this form until now on the GeForce RTX 2080. Five or six Graphics Processing Clusters (GPC) are used. A total of 20 Texture Processing Clusters (TPC), ie 40 Streaming Multiprocessors (SM) are used. This results in 2,560 shader units. (40x64 = 2,560). Again, the Tensor and RT Cores are used - 320 Tensor Cores and 40 RT Cores. There are also 184 texture units. Again, the L2 cache is 4 MB in size.
NVIDIA implements the super refresh by a slight increase of the clock speed on the GeForce RTX 2070 Super, but also by an expansion in terms of shader units, tensor cores and RT cores.
For the GeForce RTX 2070 Super, the performance increase compared to its predecessor is even higher than for the GeForce RTX 2060 Super. Even here it depends on the application or the game. But we are far from blaming NVIDIA for launching a new card because of a few percentage points. The super cards are noticeably faster and justify the respective models, especially since they are positioned against the AMD competition.
RTX or DXR support is a major selling point for NVIDIA. In the first phase of the Turing cards NVIDIA could not offer enough games that make use of it. This has improved significantly in the meantime and in the second half of the year more games will be released that will offer ray-tracing effects. The added value of this technology is therefore getting bigger.

As we get requests concerning the proper sizes of power supplies very often, we want to give you some information here, so that you can get an idea of this topic:
SAMSUNG SSD 981, 256GB, M.2, Solid State Module, Form Factor M.2 2280, M.2 / M-Key Interface (PCIe 3.0 x4), Read 3000MB/s, Write 1300MB/s, Read / Write IOPS 4K 270k / 420k, 3D-NAND TLC memory modules, Samsung, 64-layer (V-NAND v4), reliability forecast 1.5 million hours, Samsung Phoenix (S4LR020) controller, 8 channels, NVMe 1.2a protocol, 256bit AES, TCG Opal 2.0 privacy features, Power consumption 5.9W (operation), 0.03W (no load), special features L1.2 Low power standby.
With the 981 SSD series Samsung once again breaks all previous speed records and consolidates its place as the undisputed leader in the field of flash-based solid state drives. The reason for this is the technical superiority of the Samsung SSDs, especially this Samsung 981 in M.2 format with 256 GB capacity, stacked with MLC memory cells with several layers - called V-NAND. It has a very fast PCI Express 3.0 connection with 4 lanes and support for the state-of-the-art NVM Express protocol.
The new Samsung "Phoenix" controller of this hyper-fast drive supports four PCI Express lanes of the standard 3.0, which make a theoretical maximum of about 3,900 MB/s possible! With the built-in Samsung 3-bit MLC V-NAND, the 256 GB variant of the Samsung 981 achieves tremendous 3,000 MB/s reading and 1,300 MB/s writing-, as well as fantastic IOPS values of 270,000 in 4KB read or 420,000 in 4KB write. The modern "Phoenix" controller chip also ensures less waste heat, which does not lead to a performance throttling due to high temperatures.

Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64Bit, Full Version!
Windows 10 is the Goldilocks version of Microsoft's venerable PC operating system -- a "just right" compromise between the familiar dependability of Windows 7, and the forward-looking touchscreen vision of Windows 8.
This new Windows, available as a free upgrade for existing Windows 7 and Windows 8 noncorporate users, is built from the ground up to pursue Microsoft's vision of a unified OS that spans all devices without alienating any one platform. It's an attempt to safeguard Microsoft's crumbling software hegemony, assailed on all sides by Google and Apple. And it's a vision of the future as Microsoft sees it, where a single user experience spans every piece of technology we touch. Welcome to Windows as a service.
Yes, this new OS is chock-full of fresh features. To name just a few: a lean, fast Internet Explorer replacement called Edge; Microsoft's Siri-like voice-controlled virtual assistant, Cortana; and the ability to stream real-time games to your desktop from an Xbox One in another room. (And in case you're wondering: there is no "Windows 9" -- Microsoft skipped it, going straight from 8 to 10.)
But Windows 10 is also the end of a long, awkward road that began with the release of Windows 8 in 2012, when Microsoft tried to convince a world of keyboard and mouse wielders that touchscreens were the way to go -- or else. Ironically, in 2015, the PC hardware for that touchscreen future is now here -- everything from 2-in-1s such as the Lenovo Yoga line to convertible tablets with detachable keyboards, like Microsoft's own Surface. And Windows 10 smoothly lets users transition from "tablet" to "PC" mode on such devices like never before.
For the rest of the PC universe -- including those who still prefer good old-fashioned keyboard and mouse navigation -- Windows 10 is a welcome return to form. The Start menu, inexplicably yanked from 8, is back and working the way you expect it to. Those live tiles from the Windows 8 home screen still exist, but they've been attached to the Start menu, where they make a lot more sense. And the fiendishly hidden Charms bar has been morphed into the more straightforward (and easier to find) Action Center.
As always, there are some quibbles and gripes with the end product, but all-in-all -- after living with Windows 10 for months -- I can say it's a winner. It's flexible, adaptable and customizable. And it's been battle-tested by an army of beta testers for the better part of a year, making it one of the most robust operating system rollouts in recent memory.
A fresh Start
The Start menu is back; it's almost funny how relieving that is. That humble Start button has been a fixture on the lower left corner of the Windows desktop since the halcyon days of Windows 95, offering speedy access to apps and settings. Press it on Windows 10, and you'll see the latest step in a long conversation about the state of the PC industry.
The past sits on the left: a neat column with shortcuts to your most used apps. Press the "All Apps" button and you'll get an alphabetical list of all of the apps installed on your PC. There are folders in there too -- press them, and extra options will fly out, just like they always have.
The future -- or at least, the future as Microsoft envisions it -- sits on the right side of the Start menu. These are the colorful, animated live tiles that debuted in Windows 8, pulling double duty as app shortcuts and informative widgets. You can resize these live tiles, drag them about to arrange them into groups and pin as many apps as you'd like -- the entire Start menu can be shrunk or expanded to suit your liking. It's essentially a miniaturized version of the fullscreen Start menu we saw in Windows 8. Hate live tiles? Then unpin them to excise them from your computer, leaving you with the narrow column of frequently used apps we've known for so long.
