Lian Li again manages to improve an already extremely functional and chic case. The Lian Li O11Dynamic XL Midi-Tower combines brushed aluminum with tempered glass elements. With the modular Lian Li O11Dynamic XL (ROG Certified) Midi-Tower, steel is skillfully combined with a side part made of tinted tempered glass. Lian Li goes one step further and equips the right side part and the lid with 1 millimeter thick aluminum. The front is also made of tempered glass and, together with the side part, allows an almost unobstructed view of the inside of the housing.
The right part of the front houses the I / O panel with a USB 3.1 Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports and the two mandatory audio connections. Two further USB 3.0 ports are located on the right foot end of the front. There is a subtle RGB LED strip between the I / O panel and tempered glass pane, which extends from top to bottom and whose lighting can be controlled via two switches on the panel. Optionally, the RGB LED strip can also be connected to a conventional 5VDG slot on an appropriately equipped mainboard.
Plenty of room for gaming hardware
The Lian Li O11Dynamic XL (ROG Certified) Midi Tower offers plenty of space for powerful gaming hardware. Even the huge SSI EEB mainboard ROG Dominus Extreme from Asus can be installed with the help of an optional expansion rail from Lian Li. Graphics cards can be up to 446 millimeters long, CPU coolers can have a height of 167 millimeters. An ATX power supply is installed upright at the bottom left and can be 210 millimeters long.
For the installation of AiO or custom water cooling, the case offers the option of accommodating up to three 360 mm radiators at the same time: one in the lid, one on the bottom and one next to the mainboard. In the right side part there are also ventilation slots to dissipate the heat accordingly. If you want to install three 360 mm radiators at the same time, narrow specimens should be used in the lid and a slim radiator next to the mainboard. In general, the installation of three triple radiators is possible, but this requires some attention when choosing the components for the custom water cooling. In the lid there is also the option of installing a 280 mm radiator.
Excellent airflow for fantastic cooling
The radiator slots can of course also be filled with fans. On the side behind the front, on the lid and on the bottom there can be up to three 120s, on the lid and on the bottom there are two 140s instead of three 120s. For a clean cable management, there are several partially rubberized cable bushings, which are placed on the middle plate next to the mainboard. The right chamber houses the hardware that hardly radiates heat and does not need to be cooled, such as the power supply and the HDD drives.
The Lian Li O11Dynamic XL (ROG Certified) Midi-Tower stands slightly elevated on rubberized steel feet, so that cool air gets into the case through the bottom provided with a dust filter. Due to the chimney effect, the warm air rises, where it escapes through the lid, which is also equipped with a dust filter. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is the new top model for the AM4 platform, which has 16 cores and 32 threads with a clock rate of up to 4.9 GHz and can fall back on a 64 MB L3 cache. This means that the new flagship has made further gains over the generations, especially in terms of the boost rate.
Thanks to the numerous architectural improvements within the Zen 3 architecture, AMD was able to increase its single-core performance and further increase its efficiency. The previous models are consistently outbid to beat Intel, but not enough for every game. However, AMD clearly offers the rounder product: high performance, more cores, better efficiency values and ultimately the better price-performance ratio.
Above all, the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X can convince all along the line: Its 16 cores and 32 threads are currently the non-plus-ultra in the high-end area, make Intel look old and still take part in the still comparatively cheap AM4 platform their place. Water cooling in a PC is a powerful active technique to dissipate power dissipation into heat.

In terms of price and performance, Nvidia places the Geforce RTX 3090 roughly where models of the "Titan" series have been waiting for discerning customers for years. Games. On the PC. They should be pretty and fluid. And that is exactly what the Geforce RTX 3090 does, of course, even better than any other graphics card on the market. However, it makes little sense to operate such a bolide on a full or WQHD screen. In most cases, the enormous computing power dissipates in the CPU limit. If, on the other hand, you want to fire up an Ultra HD display as smoothly as possible, like to venture into real Hi-Res realms with DSR and install graphic mods every now and then, you will benefit from the capacities of an RTX 3090. As we work out in the extreme benchmarks, Ampere feels at home wherever there are lots of pixels. The more work per frame, the better the chip-internal utilization. And future games will be more demanding. From our point of view, the RTX 3090 has a long, fulfilling gaming life ahead of it. The RTX 3080, on the other hand, will sooner or later have to nibble on the memory load of the next-gen games, especially with future ray tracing implementations.

The power supply is cooled by a 120mm fan via a temperature control. The built-in fan was barely noticeable during our test run. Regarding the fan volume, it should be noted that, as with all fans with temperature control, it is difficult to quantify the effective volume in "normal operation", at least without complex measuring methods in air-conditioned and anechoic rooms. The fan was barely audible even under full load and overload.

It was not too many years ago that the idea of a 1TB drive was almost mind-boggling. However, with the continued explosion of digital data, including large-file-size games that support hi-resolution and/or 3D graphics, HD movies, HD music (and more), the need to store that data now makes a 1TB HDD not seem all that large. Also, enterprise storage systems are experiencing similar (if not even greater) growth, so more storage capacity with fewer drives is always going to be an attractive option. Hence, the market is definitely there for ever-larger capacity HDDs.
Toshiba’s DT01ACA300 HDD is a consistent performer. In our testing, it attained over 190MB/s sequential reads and writes for all transfer sizes of 16KB and larger, being under 190MB/s for only the smallest 1/3 of the transfer sizes. This demonstrates a high level of consistent performance. Our testing gave us a total score that was 20% higher than other similar drives. Our PCMark Vantage HDD suite testing gave us a total score that was 10% higher than other similar drives. In our HD Tune Pro testing, we even saw burst speeds of nearly 418MB/s, this is flash storage territory.
Toshiba’ DT01ACA300 HDD is a top-performing mechanical drive. We saw a number of benchmark results that best any of the 3TB mechanical HDDs that we have previously tested. Note that in the PCMark Vantage testing, this HDD excelled with both Windows Media Center and Windows Photo Gallery – in other words, content creation. Although this drive is marketed as a client HDD, we are seeing performance that should also appeal to media professionals and other content creators, and 3TB of capacity in a single drive to boot.

The launch of Windows 10 and the associated developments are among the most important market launches in Microsoft's corporate history. Windows 10 not only brings a new version of the operating system onto the market, Windows 10 enables a new platform generation:

In almost all browser benchmarks, Edge depends on IE 11 from Windows 8.1. It can almost double its pace in Mozilla's Kraken benchmark. It looks the same in Google's Octane 2.0 test. Its pace remains roughly the same in the Sunspider test and the Peacekeeper benchmark. Conclusion: When it comes to the browser speed, Windows 10 with Edge catches up a lot. In Kraken and Octane, Edge overtakes the competition, in the Sunspider he stays ahead. The old conditions are only preserved in the Peacekeeper test.
Microsoft already shortened the start times of Windows extremely with Windows 8. If the computer is switched off using "Shut down", it does not switch itself off, but only goes into hibernation - from which it can wake up more quickly. Even with a real Katlstart or restart, Windows 8.1 is slightly slower: However, over time, Windows remembers the files that it needs for the start: The start time is shortened with repeated starts. After ten starts, the two operating systems were almost on par with 20 seconds (Windows 10) and 22 seconds (Windows 8.1).
Windows is actually getting faster and faster the older it gets: For most components, manufacturers are releasing ever more up-to-date drivers that accelerate the hardware. Windows feels like it is getting slower and slower: This is mostly due to the fact that the autostart folder is filling up with more and more entries, more and more tools are running in the background and more and more programs that are no longer used are littering the memory. The performance tests show hardly any difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Sometimes one system is faster, sometimes the other. But all the results are so closely related - with less than three percent difference - that no difference is noticeable in practice. This also applies to tests such as Cinebench R15, which primarily check the processor performance. Even if we repeated the tests several times, nothing changed: When saving and buffering frequently used files, nothing seems to have changed between Windows 8.1 and 10. Conclusion: When it comes to hardware performance, Windows 10 is as fast as Windows 8.1 - or vice versa. So that Windows 10 stays fast, the same rules apply as always with Windows: Install the latest drivers and keep the system clean.
Windows 10 comes with the new Direct X12 3D interface. DX12 is designed to allow game programmers to use the capabilities of the GPU more efficiently. Computers with less powerful graphics cards can also benefit from this and display graphically complex games more smoothly. At the moment, the potential of DX12 can only be demonstrated using synthetic benchmarks such as the API overhead test. Conclusion: Windows 10 has the potential to accelerate games on weaker systems thanks to the DX12. But the concrete results will only show games that use DX12. The first should appear at the end of the year.
Windows 10 lays a good foundation: the hardware manufacturers have to use this to tease out a performance plus with improved drivers. Or in the case of Direct X12 game programmers who use the capabilities of the new interface in games.
