The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is the new top model for the AM4 platform, which has 16 cores and 32 threads with a clock rate of up to 4.9 GHz and can fall back on a 64 MB L3 cache. This means that the new flagship has made further gains over the generations, especially in terms of the boost rate.

ASUS has now renamed the formerly independent TUF series (The Ultimate Force) to "TUF Gaming" and has been the entry point into the ASUS gaming world ever since. ASUS installs four DIMM sockets (dual channel) on the mainboard. With the new X570 boards, ASUS advertises the so-called SafeSlot, which the manufacturer describes as a particularly hard-wearing version of a PCIe slot with metal reinforcement. This should offer potential advantages when using heavy high-end graphics cards.

The Samsung OEM SSD PM9A1 is made entirely of semiconductor components and uses NAND flash memory, which has high reliability and advanced technology in a small form factor. The rotational speed of the is only 5400 instead of 7200 revolutions per minute, as was previously the case with the Barracudas. However, Seagate compensates for this slowdown with the high data density and packs a whole terabyte onto a magnetic disk. According to the manufacturer, this corresponds to up to 340,000 data tracks on a width of around 25 millimeters. Converted, the track width is only 75 nanometers.
This requires extremely precise control of the read/write heads. To do this, Seagate uses AcuTrac technology, which constantly determines the flying height of the heads via two sensors and compensates for it with the finest temperature changes in the carrier material. In addition, Seagate uses Advanced Format technology to increase the sector size from 512 bytes to 4 kilobytes - this reduces the additional memory requirements for address and check bits, which are then available for user data.
The sequential transfer performance of the 4 TB drive from Seagate is impressive: the 3.5-inch hard drive achieves a maximum of almost 175 MB/s. In the particularly fast burst mode, in which the hard disk transfers data directly via the 64 MB buffer memory, the transfer rate even climbed to almost 250 MB/s.

Microsoft already shortened the start times of Windows extremely with Windows 8. If the computer is switched off using "Shut down", it does not switch itself off, but only goes into hibernation - from which it can wake up more quickly. Even with a real Katlstart or restart, Windows 8.1 is slightly slower: However, over time, Windows remembers the files that it needs for the start: The start time is shortened with repeated starts. Windows is actually getting faster and faster the older it gets: For most components, manufacturers are releasing ever more up-to-date drivers that accelerate the hardware. Windows feels like it is getting slower and slower: This is mostly due to the fact that the autostart folder is filling up with more and more entries, more and more tools are running in the background and more and more programs that are no longer used are littering the memory. The performance tests show hardly any difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Sometimes one system is faster, sometimes the other. But all the results are so closely related - with less than three percent difference - that no difference is noticeable in practice. This also applies to tests such as Cinebench R15, which primarily check the processor performance. Even if we repeated the tests several times, nothing changed: When saving and buffering frequently used files, nothing seems to have changed between Windows 8.1 and 10.
