All components for your perfect gaming setup in 2026
Individual gaming setups have undergone exciting development over the past decades. There are still prejudices that gaming takes place in a dark basement or that the gaming PC might even be placed on the balcony in winter for sufficient cooling. Today's reality looks completely different. This doesn't just refer to advanced cooling systems.
Gaming nowadays takes place much more in the digital public than in dark basements. Accordingly, the equipment goes far beyond an impressively lit gaming PC or gaming laptop. Numerous components such as the right monitors, keyboards, gaming mice, mousepads, headsets or microphones, and furniture complete the ideal PC setup. Here we want to provide some information on each of these points so that everyone can put together their individual gaming setup.
Gaming monitors for the ideal setup
20 years ago, it was still a real effort to drag your CRT monitors to various LAN parties. Today, such trips are rarely necessary to connect with the community. This might be fortunate, because although monitors have become much lighter and thinner in principle, their quality and size have increased to such an extent that transporting them would be cumbersome for completely different reasons.
A modern gaming setup nowadays usually includes more than just one monitor. Even if the main screen has sufficient size and image quality, it can make sense to have a second monitor for monitoring streaming software or chat. Some people like to watch their favorite series on a second screen next to the grind. The advantages of multiple monitors for work (e.g. video editing or programming) don't even need to be mentioned.
An ideal gaming setup therefore usually has more than one monitor. The devices can have different sizes or even be mounted in different ways, such as vertically for chat. Otherwise, the following aspects should be considered when selecting gaming monitors:
- Flicker-Free
- 4K resolution
- Low Blue Light mode
- Hertz (refresh rate)
- Low input lag
- Integrated camera
Note: If you currently don't have the budget for all the equipment, you can use our installment purchase or financing.
Gaming keyboards, gaming mice and mousepads
Some people are virtuosos on a musical instrument, others with power drills or kitchen appliances. Gamers bring their talents into the game via keyboard and mouse. Every good musician or chef can confirm that with increasing experience, much more can be achieved with top-class equipment. As a beginner, it doesn't have to be the most expensive violin or the sharpest knife, but at some point increasing knowledge reveals the advantages of high-end products. The same applies to gaming. As a beginner, it's difficult to really recognize the benefits of good equipment. However, this usually changes very quickly, and a good gaming setup therefore always includes the right mouse with mousepad and the right keyboard. When choosing, the following aspects should be considered:
- Mechanical or rubber dome?
- Number of macro keys
- N-key rollover
- Lighting
- Hand feel and weight
- Number of buttons
- DPI settings
- Lighting
- Size
- Print / design
Gaming headsets and microphones
The right gaming setup not only delivers the right outputs in terms of graphics. The appropriate devices for audio output and input must also be present. Some gamers swear by headsets, while others prefer microphones and corresponding speakers. Thanks to modern noise-cancelling technology and directional characteristics, it's difficult to determine an objective favorite here. Nevertheless, we can mention some features that should be considered for the auditory design of a gaming setup:
- Desktop microphones usually offer better recording quality, but headsets are usually sufficient for gaming
- Wearing comfort is very important for headsets during long gaming sessions
- Directional characteristic should usually be cardioid
- Desktop microphones with accessories are more expensive, but can significantly upgrade the gaming setup
- Headsets are usually cheaper and can be transported more comfortably or require less space
- Headsets disturb roommates less
Streaming equipment for the gaming setup
We already mentioned the topic of publicity through streaming at the beginning. To present yourself and your gaming PC in the right light, your gaming setup should be equipped with a ring light, studio lighting, perhaps even a Stream Deck or a green screen. You can find some of these products with us under Streaming Equipment.
Note: Of course, the streaming camera must not be forgotten, but these devices have now become so small that only the cable routing really needs planning. In some cases, the cameras are also integrated directly into the monitors.
The right furniture for the perfect gaming setup
This topic would actually deserve its own article, so much could be written about the ideal furniture. After all, many of the mentioned devices have to stand on a desk, the gaming chair deserves a lot of attention, and the background in streams reveals a lot about your personality. However, at this point we would like to give some tips and basic principles for your own furniture without restricting personal taste too much:
- The right gaming chair doesn't just carry the logo of your favorite team on the leather – first and foremost, it should prevent back pain in the short term during longer sessions and in the long term throughout a life at the PC.
- The gaming desk should be as large as possible. Therefore, nice wooden panels from a furniture store or hardware store with sturdy legs often work very well. Of course, the edges should be processed safely, but a self-designed gaming desk offers more freedom than an off-the-shelf model. The size of the desk also determines whether the gaming PC can stand on the desk or has to be banished to the floor, which would be a shame.
- The background should be well lit on the one hand. With additional light sources, perhaps even in creative colors, even the simplest cabinet with a book looks much better. On the other hand, the background should never contain objects that reveal too much personal information. The photo with parents and/or partner doesn't necessarily belong there.
Once all this is in place, you can check again whether the heart of the gaming setup – the gaming PC – still fits perfectly.
